Welcome to the Mississippi ALPHA Network

“The chief significance of Alpha Phi Alpha lies in its purpose to stimulate, develop, and cement an intelligent, trained leadership in the unending fight for freedom, equality and fraternity. Our task is endless.”

Jewel Brother Henry Arthur Callis

The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was founded on December 04, 1906, at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.  It is the first collegiate fraternity founded by African American men. The stated mission of the Alpha Phi Fraternity, Inc. is to “Develop[s] leaders, promote[s] Brotherhood and academic excellence while providing service and advocacy to our communities.”

The Light of Alpha Phi Alpha made its way to the State of Mississippi in June of 1927, with the chartering of its first alumni chapter, Alpha Epsilon Lambda, seated in Jackson, Mississippi.  The first collegiate chapter was chartered in 1949 on the campus of Tougaloo College.

The Mississippi District remains dedicated and committed and boldly prepared to uphold the legacy of our “7 Jewels”.  Currently, the Mississippi District is comprised on 10 Collegiate Chapters and 14 Alumni Chapters situated throughout the state of Mississippi.
